We are here!
OUR MISSION
The Phoenix Language Project is dedicated to the preservation of endangered languages. Our goal is to create an up-to-date and accurate repository with information about each language, spread awareness by partnering with local libraries, and provide support for organizations that are actively preserving languages.
ABOUT US
Hi! My name is Ruby and I am the founder of the Phoenix Language Project! I worked with a team of freelancers, designers, and people who were kind enough to donate their time (thank you everyone!) to build my website. I enjoy traveling, playing golf, snowboarding, trying new foods, and learning languages. In 2024, I lived in Kyrgyzstan for the summer with the NSLI-Y program, which changed my life. While abroad, I was exposed to endangered languages for the first time, and I immediately wanted to help. I hope that this project will have a positive impact on the world and raise more awareness about this problem!
Although our team is small, we are committed to making a large difference. We believe that each language holds irreplaceable value in our worldwide culture, and each language that goes extinct leaves an unfillable hole in its place. We aim to spread awareness of this problem in our local community, and we hope to be able to expand to more locations in the future. The only time we can act is now!
